Whipsnade Zoo, Bedfordshire

ZSL Whipsnade Zoo has 600 acres of stunning scenery and outdoor enclosures making it the largest zoo in the UK. the largest zoo in the UK. To make travelling around the park easier, the zoo offers you the chance to ride through some of the territories on two steam engines. From this vantage point you can get up close to some of the biggest and impressive animals like elephants, tigers, lions, rhinos and giraffes. There are 2,500 animals living in the zoo including snakes. monkeys, wolves,wallabies, zebras and crocodiles.

Whipsnade Zoo is active in its approach to make a zoo a more interactive and immersive experience. They have done this by introducing exhibits like Cheetah Rock, Rhinos of Nepal, In with the Lemurs and Lions of the Serengeti.

There are daily demonstrations and talks from keepers plus a sea lion splash show and feeding of the penguins.

A range of refreshments are available including healthy meal options.

Disabled Facilities

The zoo is accessible to the disabled but the Woodland Bird Walk is not advisable for wheelchair users due to bark chippings. Guide dogs can be left in kennels provided. Wheelchairs are available to borrow but book in advance.
