Vestry House Museum, London
Vestry House Museum presents the history of Waltham Forest. Attractively located in the Grade II listed Vestry House, the Museum can be found in the delightful historic Walthamstow Village. Vestry House, a two storey building of brown stock brick, was constructed in 1730 as a workhouse by order of the Walthamstow Vestry. It has since been a police station and a private house, before it opened as a Museum in 1931.
The first motor car to be driven in London and the first built in Britain is displayed at the museum. Frederick Bremer built the car in Walthamstow.
Vestry House Museum houses Waltham Forest Archives and Local Studies Library. It is also home to an award-winning public garden.

Wednesday-Sunday, 10am-5pm
Pre-booked groups and school visits also welcome on Tuesdays.
