Tutankhamun Exhibition, Dorset

The Tutankhamun exhibition recreates the discovery in 1922 of one of the world's greatest treasure finds.

The exhibition consists of recreations of artefacts and the tomb where the famous Pharaoh was discovered. The original artefacts used to tour the world but due to fears about damage, they are now kept safely in Egypt. This exhibition is the only one of its kind outside of Egypt and offers visitors the chance to see expertly crafted copies of the magnificent ancient treasure.

Archaeologists and craftsmen have worked in great detail to make as authentic reproductions as possible. The antechamber of the tomb is recreated as it was in 1922 when Howard Carter entered and the burial chamber shows the moment that the golden coffins were removed from the sarcophagus.

Also on view are the treasures and jewels including the famous funerary mask and the mummy itself.
