Thames Barrier Visitor Centre, London
The Thames Barrier is a flood defence located on the Thames river in London.
The biggest threat of flooding to London comes from high tides moving up from the sea, usually after a storm surge. The barriers are maintained and operated by the Environment agency who have a visitor centre which explains how the barriers work, how they were constructed and the future of flooding in London.
The centre has great views of the barriers as well as a cafe and play area for children.
