The Tenement House is a typical Victorian tenement flat of 1892, which retains all its original fittings, such as gas lamps and the splendid kitchen range.

It is a fascinating retrospective insight into Glasgow life and social history from the late 19th Century to early 20th Century.

Built in 1892, this elegantly restored sandstone building is in perfect condition and the first floor apartment which houses the museum is a treasure of 19th century splendour, having retained its original period features and character.

Previously owned by shorthand typist, Miss Agnes Toward for over 50 years, The Tenement House is a magnificent 'time capsule', depicting an authentic image of what home life was like during the early 20th Century. A large number of Miss Toward's household possessions have been retained including her gas-lit parlour and beautifully restored and polished rosewood piano, capturing the essence of the era.

No free parking, except for Blue Badge holders.
There are steps with rails to the reception desk, exhibition, shop area and toilet in the ground-floor flat, and then two full flights of steps to the Tenement House on the first floor of the property.
