Swaffham Museum, Norfolk,
The Swaffham Museum contains an exhibition on local history and local geology as well as an egyptology room charting the life of Howard Carter (an English archaeologist and Egyptologist, noted as a primary discoverer of the tomb of Tutankhamun).
In the Archaeology Room are artefacts dating from the Bronze Age, Roman and Anglo Saxon times. The items include three tiny but exquisite decorated pieces of gold.
The Social History section includes a feature of national and local sportsmen and women who were once household names. Besides the well known national names are local heroes – Evelyn Hamilton a 1930’s cycling champion and Jem Mace the “Father of Modern Boxing”. They both have fascinating stories to tell.
