Sherlock Holmes Museum , London

Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson lived in a Victorian lodging house at 221b Baker Street between 1881-1904, according to the stories written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The house was built in 1815 and is still faithfully maintained as it was kept in Victorian Times.

Dame Jean Conan Doyle (daughter of Conan Doyle) made clear that she did not approve of the museum as she was against the idea of suggesting that Sherlock Holmes was a real person and knew that the presence of the museum would reinforce the idea in the minds of many that he had really existed. This belief is further supported by the presence of a commemorative blue plaque on the outside that states the years of Holmes's supposed residency.

In the museum visitors can sit in Sherlock Holmes’s fireside armchair and enter his bedroom adjoining the study. Doctor Watson's room is on the second floor. The third floor rooms contain an arrangement of wax models of scenes from the stories.
