Ruthin, North Wales
Ruthin is the county town of Denbighshire in North Wales and has a population of approximately 5000 people. The town is situated in the southern part of the Vale of Clywyd and has a historical mix of Tudor and Georgian homes, a medieval castle and independent shops.
The castle's construction was ordered Edward I in 1277 and consisted of two wards and five round towers which guarded the inner ward. Today, the castle has been turned into an opulent hotel.
Visitors can wander through the market town where there are plenty of places to eat. The beautiful surrounding countryside is excellent for fishing, walking and cycling.
