Paddington Station, London
Paddington train station is a key National Rail and London Underground station in the city of London. Paddington station is a historical site; its mainline station was opened in 1854 but it served as a London terminus from as early as 1838.
The architecture of the station roof is made up of three spans of wrought iron arches with two transepts connecting them. This impressive structure was the brainchild of Isambard Kingdom Brunel and his associate Matthew Digby Wyatt.
Today, Paddington is the main terminal for trains travelling to Wales, the west and south west of England and has 14 platforms.
Paddington Bear takes his name from the station after he was found there having travelled from Peru. For fans of Paddington Bear there is a shop selling merchandise.
