Museum of London, UK
The Museum of London has four permanent galleries open to the public which have no admission charge.
These galleries look at London's history from 1666 to the 21st century. However, these galleries are undergoing a refurbishment and will not be open again until 2010. Meanwhile, the upper galleries are still open and explore the prehistoric, Roman and Medievel history of London.
The Great Fire of London exhibition is open until winter 2009 and uses interactive displays, archaelogical finds, 17th century fire fighting equipment and personal accounts to help visitors relive the terrible event.
Families are very welcome at the museum which has baby changing facilites, cloakrooms for buggies and a variety of activites to entertain children.
You can take your own food and eat at one of the picnic areas or enjoy the light meals on offer in the cafe which also serves child friendly food.
