Leeds Castle, Kent
Leeds Castle is actually in Kent and has a history spanning 900 years. It has Norman foundations; a mediaeval gatehouse; the Gloriette, built by Edward I and updated in Henry VIII's times; a Tudor tower; and a 19th century country house - all of which were substantially refurbished in the 20th century. The Castle is also situated on an island surrounded by a moat.
The interiors are lavish and worthy of a castle especially one that was once inhabited by Henry VIII's wife Catherine of Aragon. Apart from the Castle, visitors will also find an Aviary, craft café, dog collar museum, golf course, vineyard, falconry and maze.
Kids can use up their energy in the Knights realm, a scale model adventure playground of the real castle. For toddlers there is a more suitable play area near by. Or for those who are creative there is a craft café where you can print a t-shirt or paint pottery.
