Leeds Castle Aviary, Kent

Leeds Castle Aviary, opened in 1988, is home to over 100 species of birds from across five continents The heavily planted Aviary is open to the public on a daily basis.

Since its opening, the Aviary has become noted not only for its numerous breeding successes but for a number of breeding firsts including Toco Toucans, a spectacular species rarely bred in zoos.Monitors in some nesting boxes allow visitors to see what is happening inside the nests of some of the rarer species.

Tours take place daily at 2.15pm and offer the opportunity to find out about the birds’ habitats, breeding programmes, conservation work and the chance to ask questions of the Aviary staff.

The Rainforest Hide offers an inspiring interactive experience for all visitors by recreating a rainforest field station atmosphere, delivering information about birds and raising awareness of their importance within an ecosystem.
