Holy Trinity Church Avon , England

The Church of the Holy and Undivided Trinity is a Grade I listed church of the Church of England in Stratford-upon-Avon. It is often known simply as Shakespeare's Church, due to its fame as the place of baptism and burial of William Shakespeare.

Built on the site of a Saxon monastery the present building dates from 1210 and is Stratford's oldest building, in a beautiful location on the banks of the River Avon.

Holy Trinity contains some interesting features, including a 14th-century sanctuary knocker in the church's porch, 26, 15th century misericord seats in the chancel, with religious, secular and mythical carvings and several large stained glass windows featuring major English and Biblical saints at the church's east and west ends.

Please note that we do not open for visitors on Good Friday, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day.

Disabled Facilities

Wheelchair access - one small step. Church Staff willingly help to place a ramp. There are no steps within the building. Daytime disabled toilets (Closed at 6pm) in the Theatre Gardens 100m. Please ask for the RADAR key at the book shop or in the Parish Centre Office. A Braille guide is available for you to take away. An induction loop is in operation during services. Clear-print service books and hymn-books are available.
