Hampton Court Gardens, England

There are over 60 acres of beautiful gardens at Hampton Court that extend down to the River Thames, featuring fountains, stunning displays of more than 200,000 flowering bulbs and acres of restful parkland.

The grounds as they are today were laid out in the late 17th century. There are no remains of Henry VIII's original gardens. However the gardens were recreated in the style of Henry VIII's gardens of 1536.

The Banqueting House, overlooking the Thames was built around 1700, for picnics and entertainments in the gardens. A conservatory nearby hosts the "Great Vine", which was planted in 1769, it's trunk is over 81 inches thick and it is over 100 foot long. It still produces an annual crop of grapes.

While in the gardens you can visit Hampton Court Maze planted in the 1690's.

You can also see the 16th century Privy Gardens designed to celebrate the anniversary of Henry VIII's accession to the throne.
