Great Cressingham Victorian School, Great Cressingham,
The Cressingham village school was built in 1840. It was used as a local Authority school until 1992 and was then acquired by Tom and Sally North. They have restored it as closely as possible to how it would have been in Victorian times and now run free historical school days.
Children "attend classes". They write on slates and have dip pens to use and the teacher instructs in a lesson lasting about an hour. The lesson includes learning by rote, an object lesson, drill and singing accompanied by the harmonium or melodeon.
There is sometimes an opportunity for the girls to take part in needlework instruction. There are reproduction Victorian toys for children to play with.
