Cutty Sark, London

The Cutty Sark is the only remaining original Clipper ship in the World and is preserved in Greenwich, London.

She was built in 1869 and served as a merchant vessel, travelling throughout the world. The Cutty Sark is thought to be one of the most beautiful ships ever made and makes a striking backdrop to the London Marathon runners as they pass her on the course.

The ship was badly damaged in a fire in 2007 while restoration work was being carried out. As a result, the ship is not open to the public but can be viewed at her site near the National Maritime Museum.
