Corfe Castle, Dorset
Corfe Castle stands majestically on the Dorset coast and was built during the time of Norman the Conquerer, just after 1066.
It once stood proudly as a controlling gateway through the Purbeck Hills and was used as a fortress for 600 years until the civil war in 1646 when it was partly demolished. Visitors can still see many Norman and English features and there is an interactive exhibition detailing the adventures of the castle's history.
There are guided tours available from April to October. During school holidays there are organised family activities and treasure trails.
Opening Times
Open all year round from 10am. Closing times vary between 4pm and 6pm depending on the season.
