Chesters Hill Fort, Scotland

Chesters Hill Fort is an Iron Age hill fort in East Lothian. The name "Chesters" comes from Latin castra, a fortified place. It dates back almost 2000 years.

It is believed to have comprised a village of about 20 roundhouses occupying the fairly extensive upper area of the hill on which it lies. Around these were dug monumental ramparts, presumably for defence.
