Chelsea Physic Garden, London

The Chelsea Psychic garden dates back to 1673 when its purpose was to identify plants and train apothecaries. The garden is set in the heart of London and its sheltered spot creates a mild micro climate allowing the growth of tender and Mediterranean plants. Today the garden continues its research into conservation, properties and origins of plant species.

There are approximately 5000 different taxa on display with the collection concentrating on those of a medicinal and ethnobotanical nature. The glass houses contain a collection of tropical, sub tropical and Mediterranean plants.

Opening Times

The Garden is open to the public from midday on Sundays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Bank Holiday Mondays from 1st April until 31st October.
