Acton Burnell Castle, Shropshire
Acton Burnell Castle is a red sandstone shell of a fortified tower house, built in the late 13th century by Bishop Burnell, Bishop of Bath and Wells and friend and advisor to King Edward I. It is believed that the first Parliament of England in which the Commons included in the law-making process was held here in 1283. All that remains of the building today is the outer shell of the manor house and the gable ends of the barn.
The house was built in 1284 by Robert Burnell,
